Nigeria’s 2018 World Cup kit entered for Design of the Year prize in London

Nigeria’s 2018 World Cup kit is among some of the world’s biggest brands nominated for the Beazley Design of the Year prize.

The widely acclaimed kit joins leading architects, fashion designers and some celebrities among nominees for the prize, which is an annual exhibition and awards run by London’s Design Museum.

It aims to highlight the most innovative and exciting designs of the past 12 months.

Overall, about 87 designs have been shortlisted for the award.

The show, now in its 11th year, runs at the Design Museum London from September 12 to January 6, with the winner announced on November 15.

Previous winners include the London 2012 Olympic Torch and Barack Obama’s 2008 HOPE election campaign poster.

It would be recalled that Nigeria’s 2018 World Cup kit was voted the tournament’s best kit.

As soon as Nike released a promotional campaign featuring Nigeria’s new stripes, the kit went viral on Twitter.

The staggered zig zag design was well received across the globe, notably in London.

Consequently it broke pre-order records with a staggering 3 million kits sold.
