Zidane reappoints Real Madrid coach as Solari sacked

Former France International Zinedine Zidane has been re-appointed as coach of Real Madrid, after the La Liga side sacked their manager, Santiago Solari on Monday.

The former midfielder and France captain who won an unprecedented three  consecutive UEFA Champions League titles with the Spanish football giants before resigning in May 2018 is coming at a time the fortunes of Real Madrid have suffered a set back.

Following his resignation, Zidane was replaced by Jolen Lopetegui. Lopetegui was subsequently sacked in October of the same year and was replaced by Solari.

Under Solari Real Madrid’s form plummeted as they were eliminated from the UEFA Champions League as well as dropped points against their arch rivals Barcelona.

A club statement confirmed Solari’s sack as well as Zidane’s appointment which takes effect with immediate effect.

The statement further stated that 46-year-old Zidane would be in charge for the rest of the season until 2022.
